THINGS TO CONSIDER TODAY    - A column by Leland Pulley that looks at issues and concerns in the lives of people and provides insights to help address them.

Simplify Your Life And Enjoy It More

You should be happy with the life that you’re living. One main criteria for this is having sufficient time and money to enjoy the things that you like. Simplify your life. This is an effective way to manage it more effectively and enjoy it more as you live it day by day. Let’s look at some ways of doing these things.

It’s easy to feel short of time and energy and money. Many people claim they’ re so busy and have so many things scheduled. They have little free time to do some of the things they would really enjoy. It’s like being in a pressure cooker mentally and physically. There is stress and headaches and impatience. To one degree or another, this hurry-hurry living pattern seems to creep into the lives of each of us. Why do we allow this?

When Knocked Down Get Back Up And Fight On

As we live our lives, we experience problems and difficulties. There can be negative outcomes and even tragic events. These types of things can easily set us back in our situation and circumstances. We may be overwhelmed by what is going on and discouraged. We can become confused, and in some cases bitter. We ask yourselves, why did this happen to me instead of someone else? Or we may ask what did I do to deserve this? The real issue here is not whether bad things can happen to good people, because they can. We all realize that life is not fair and each of us is vulnerable. We can be subjected to some things through our own fault and other things through no fault of our own. Many such things are above and beyond our control. These can range from a car accident to an injury obtained while participating in a sport. There can be a serious illness you suffer from, or there is a death in your immediate family. You have a house that loses value so it is worth less than the amount owed by you on the mortgage. You have a loss of income through unemployment. The important thing is the impact an event or circumstance has on you personally. This is the focus of this article.

LIFE IN THE MIDDLE TODAY  - A column by Colleen Pulley that illustrates how to face the challenges of life, make choices, and move onward; and in the process experience more joys along the way.

I Am The Master Of My Fate, I Am The Captain Of My Soul

My husband took me to the movie “Invictus”, starring Morgan Freeman. It was about Nelson Mandela. One of the things that helped Nelson Mandela endure years in prison was a poem written by William Ernest Henley in 1875.

William Henley contracted tuberculosis of the bone when he was 12 years old and struggled through out his life with the disease. He was 25 years old, and lying in a hospital bed recovering from the amputation of one of his legs. As he lay upon that bed, enduring the pain of the surgery, he penned this memorable poem. Many people have used the poem to release the greatness within themselves as they suffer under life’s burdens.

Journal Writing: A Road Map Of Discovery

When I was younger, I never actively kept a journal or diary. The closest I came to keeping a written record of my life was when my parents would have me write things down about family activities or outings we went on, and then file them away in a personal history notebook for me. At the time I dragged my feet at the thought of having to do work for my parents that was so similar to what I did in school.

What I didn’t understand as a child was that those snippets of my childhood and teenage years would prove to be a treasure when I got older. Looking back know I understand that the personal history book I created with my parents allowed me to do two very important things.

The Truth Hurts But Seek It In Media Coverage

I just entered the word of online social networking lately and opened a Facebook page. It’s a fun way to post short items about yourself and keep track of friends, and it doesn’t really take a lot of effort. Recently, I had a newspaper article passed on to me, and it did a good job of demonstrating the state of the Media industry today. The article begins with a rosy account of two gay men in a stable relationship. They have been together for over 20 years, are committed to each other, and rather advanced in age. One is 88, and the other is 77. The implication that was made by the article is that they did all of the paperwork to plan for death or misfortune, and felt secure that their wishes would be respected.
