Enjoyable and Memorable Trips and Activities

There are many types of trips and activities which families do that are enjoyable and memorable. These activities and events share some common characteristics. I would like to illustrate this through a recent trip my wife and I made to the beach.

We went to a beach town that was visited by us several times in past years. It was still an enjoyable day because of what we put into it.

How We Remember The Things We Do, Can Strengthen Or Weaken Our Relationships

About three weeks ago my husband and I went into a nature area where I could take some pictures of the approaching Summer. We happened upon a Father, maybe in his late thirties. He had his son with him. They were heading to their favorite fishing spot. I was struck how relaxed they were with each other, and the appearance that they really were enjoying being together. It was one of those perfect “Kodak Moments”a photographer prays to stumble upon. I asked if they would mind if I took some pictures of them while they were fishing. It was wonderful, because even though they knew I was taking their pictures, they remained relaxed, and I caught some pictures of what it means to build meaningful relationships within a family. This moment will be one that helps the young man understand what happiness is based upon.

Learning About LIfe From The Sea

As I have mentioned more than one time, I love the sea. I love walking along a foggy beach in the early morning hours. I love the gray damp misty fog, I love the sunny days when everyone comes to enjoy the beach.

I have had the chance to enjoy the beaches and oceans of the United States while living in different areas. I have sunk my feet into the velvety white beaches of Virginia, and the Southern seaboard where the Ocean is so warm in Florida. I have enjoyed the beaches of Atlantic City, New Jersey. I’ve walked along the shore lines of New York and Massachusetts where the ocean is uninviting on most days. I have walked miles of Oregon beaches, where the sand is hard, and the ocean is cold, but certainly not frigid.

The American Dream

July is an interesting time of year in our home and the July fourth weekend is filled with the usual combination of barbecues, fireworks and family gatherings. But it is also a time of refection and thanksgiving. July 4th is America’s independence day and a for us a time to remember what living the American dream is all about.
